When can you see flamingos in Cyprus?
Flamingos usually arrive in Cyprus during autumn and stay through the winter months. The main season is generally from November to February or March, although the exact timing and number of birds can change depending on rainfall and water levels.

Where can you see flamingos?
Larnaca Salt Lake
One of the best-known places to see flamingos in Cyprus is Larnaca Salt Lake, just outside Larnaca.
During the winter, the lake fills with water and attracts thousands of migratory birds, including flamingos. It is also a beautiful place for a walk and a chance to enjoy some of Cyprus’ natural scenery away from the busy tourist areas.
Akrotiri Salt Lake
Another important place for flamingos is Akrotiri Salt Lake, near Limassol.
It is the largest inland body of water in Cyprus and an important wetland for migratory birds. During the winter months, flamingos can gather here in large numbers, depending on the conditions at the lake.
A few tips for watching flamingos
Flamingos are wild birds, so the best way to enjoy them is from a distance.
Bring your camera, take your time and avoid getting too close or disturbing the birds. Drones should also be avoided around flamingos, as they can cause unnecessary stress. BirdLife Cyprus recommends using designated viewing areas and hides where possible.
